My favourite pastry chef is Pierre Hermé and every time I pass through Selfridges, I cannot resist picking up some macarons or a mooncake for myself. His macarons have on many an occasion been my choice for special gifts for special occasions and I just love the intricacy, perfection and love that goes into creating them.
Known as the “Picasso of Pastry,”Pierre started his career aged 14 as an apprentice to Gaston Lenore. Now known worldwide for his stunning creations, he has an impressive career history.
Every flavour combination or choice is meticulously perfect and the ice cream is just to die for. Mooncakes are a fairly new introduction but a very welcome one!
The Macarons are my favourite though and not only do they just taste ridiculously amazing, they look incredible too and each one is perfect! They make superb gifts but they are also the nicest treat to get yourself as they certainly make everything feel so much better instantly.
The best news I have heard so far is that Pierre Hermé has been crowned best pastry chef in the world at the prestigious World’s 50 Best Restaurant Awards in New York on 13 June 2016.
Truly deserved and so happy that his skills and talent are being recognised with such an amazing accolade.
Have you tried any of Pierre Hermé’s macarons, mooncakes or ice creams? Which one is your favourite?
