#Curryoncooking with Goldfish sauces

Sometimes when you crave a delicious meal but are lacking time, it can be tough to find a ready made sauce or a sauce which requires minimal effort to create a tasty, wholesome dish.

When I was sent a selection of Goldfish sauces to try, I was intrigued to see how good they would taste.

Goldfish Brand sauces were first developed for professional chefs in the 1960s by founder Mr Lee, in answer to demand for a sauce that could be easily created in every Chinese restaurant with taste and quality at its heart. All you have to do is just add water to create a smooth and velvety sauce, then stir-fry your favourite meats, fish and vegetables in the sauce.

I tried two different sauces in two different dishes, and here are my thoughts.

Potato curry with Hot and Spicy Curry Sauce

For this dish, the only additional ingredients I used were cumin seeds, fresh curry leaves, handful chopped coriander and green peppercorns.

Method:

  1. First I boiled small chunks of potato in salted boiling water for 6 minutes.
  2. In a pan, I heated 2 tablespoons oil on medium heat and added the cumin seeds.
  3. When they sizzled, I added the curry leaves and the potatoes.
  4. I cooked this mixture together for about 4 minutes before adding the sauce, which I had prepared according to the instructions on the packaging.
  5. I let this cook for around 8 minutes and then garnished with the green peppercorns and coriander.

This dish was so delicious and even Amit commented that the curry tasted really good. I then confessed to him that I used a sauce and he was impressed with how good it tasted.

It didn’t take long to cook and with minimal preparation.

Stir fried vegetables in Chinese curry sauce

The second dish I cooked was a selection of vegetables stir fried in Chinese Curry sauce and eaten with rice.

All I did was stir fry the vegetables (I used a mix of different ones and you can choose any combination of your liking) in sesame oil for a couple of minutes before adding the prepared sauce as per the packaging.

In around 5-6 minutes the dish was ready!

The taste had the same quality as in Chinese restaurants when I have ordered this dish and it was really flavoursome.

The best part about each sauce, is that you can cook several curries or stir fries out of it so it is a fabulous product to have in your store cupboard.

I really liked the taste, the convenience and how quickly a meal could be put together.
