The 1904 Bar – St Regis Mauritius

Quite easily my favourite area in the whole hotel, the 1904 served absolutely amazing cocktails as well as bar food. It was open throughout the day too so it was a lovely place to have a coffee, tea, or hot chocolate too.

We were here daily, whether it was in the middle of the day, early evening for a pre-drink or a night cap.

The venue is stunning with beautiful tiles, a grand piano and a rather sleek looking bar. The interiors are luxurious and plush and the furniture so comfortable, that you can easily escape into a sense of bliss for hours on end.

Fun fact – did you know the Bloody Mary was first created in 1934, by Fernand Petiot, the bartender at The St. Regis New York’s King Cole Bar? The cocktail’s name was deemed to be too vulgar and was re-named Red Snapper.

The Bloody Mary is now St Regis brand’s signature cocktail with each resort having its on personal take on it.

It has been my dream for so long to make it to the St Regis in Bora Bora but for the time being I was content with trying their version, The Bora Mary, which is a concoction of Vodka, tomato juice and watermelon juice.

The service was exceptional, and a big thanks to Selvin and Savina. We would always be given lovely nibbles, whether they were marinated olives, spicy cashews or lotus root crisps.

We also had mini samosas which were so tasty!

We also enjoyed some light meals at the 1904 bar and pictured below is the focaccia with arugula and burrata which was fab.

I also fuelled my caffeine fix here and had a latte, Mauritian coffee and a normal coffee (on different days).

The 1904 bar is the perfect place to enjoy a drink with a view if the pool, the breeze cooling you on warm evenings, and enjoy the tranquility and ambience.

The large spacious tables make it a great place to play cards too!
