Spiced sprouted mung, adzuki beans and chickpeas

A nutritious dish using ingredients which are packed full of health benefits. This is perfect as a comfort dish and good for you too.


  • 1 cup Sprouted mung, 
  • 1/2 cup adzuki beans
  • 1/2 cup chickpeas
  • 3 cloves garlic, crushed
  • 1 tablespoon chopped ginger
  • 1 red onion, chopped
  • 1 green chilli, chopped
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric
  • 1/2 teaspoon red chilli powder
  • 1 teaspoon coriander powder
  • 1 teaspoon cumin powder
  • 1 teaspoon garam masala
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons oil


  1. Wash the lentils and beans and set aside.
  2. In a pan heat 2 tablespoons oil on medium heat and add the onions. Cook them for around 8 minutes till they are soft.
  3. Now add the garlic, ginger and green chilli and cook for a further 2 minutes.
  4. Add the lentils and beans and the ground spices and mix well.
  5. Pour in 2 cups water and cover the pan. Let this cook for around 40 minutes, and add more water if needed. 
  6. The lentils and beans should have turned darker after absorbing all the wonderful spices and once there is little water left it is ready.
  7. Enjoy hot with chapatis or mixed into rice.
